GS Group Diversified Business GS Group
Business diversification based on high technologies is one of the key development principles of the GS Group holding company.
The holding company is actively exploring new markets. GS Group started production of nanostructured carbon materials (NCM) on the basis of in-depth R&D in the Technopolis GS innovation cluster in 2012. The company Nanocarbon Materials has arranged production of NCM Chrome nano-additives containing activated nanocarbon, and developed a unique technology of solid wear-proof and corrosion-resistant decorative chrome-plating using such additives.
When implementing its business diversification strategy, GS Group pays a great attention to high-tech areas which have not been sufficiently covered by Russian companies and still largely depend on imports. One of such areas is the woodworking industry. Since 2012 GS Group has been implementing a large-scale strategic investment project – the Dedovichi production facility complex for deep wood processing in the Pskov region. The total amount of investment in the project exceeds 3 billion rubles. The key facility of the complex is Sudoma sawmill. It is the first company in Russia producing the impregnated timber, thermo-treated timber and construction materials.
Manufacturing innovative products with high-added value is one of the GS Group key competences. In 2015 GS Composite plant was launched in Ulyanovsk and became the first Russia’s pilot production for wood-plastic composites (WPC) with application of a solid plastic. This innovative technology was developed by GS Group’s own research and technology laboratory in Moscow.
