The One TV broadcast project from GS Group international holding company in the Kingdom of Cambodia had its two-year anniversary on September 15, 2014. Today, it’s the only digital terrestrial nationwide TV operator that extensively covers 80% of the country.

Within two years, One TV, the digital television broadcaster achieved outstanding results. At the time of launch, it had 56 channels with various themes; today that number has increased to 80, which gives the project a significant competitive advantage over cable operators in the country by basing content on audience interests. Among the five current packages of channels, there is “Aka”, a male focused package with an emphasis on sports content as well as “Serey”, a female focused package on entertainment programs and films.

In addition to Russian, international and local channels, One TV offers its viewers content in Khmer, which is really quite popular amongst subscribers. Currently, six channels including Karaoke Modern for fans of karaoke are included in the TV packages. In the short-term, the numbers of in-house channel production will almost double. Due to the fact that the payment is conducted with the local Wing electronic payment system, it is a simple, convenient and preferred way of viewership payment for Cambodians.

One TV is providing a convenient advertising platform for Cambodia. The operator’s in-house TV channels now have a new opportunity to feature and broadcast commercials. In addition, the popular Thai TV shop Hana Home Shopping channel was also launched.

One of the outcomes of One TV two-year plan is for the expansion of territorial coverage. Digital TV operator broadcasting is available in the nine most populated provinces of Cambodia and Phnom Penh, the capital, which accounts for 80% of the country’s territory. Currently, it extensively covers the most area in comparison with other digital operators in the country. In the spring of 2014, the Kingdom of Cambodia’s Ministry of Communications gave official gratitude to the GS Group holding company for significant contribution and development of bilateral relations between the two great nations. During a ceremony dedicated to the technical launch of the platform in the province of Kandal Khieu Kanharith, the Minister of Information of the Kingdom of Cambodia noted that One TV has become a kind of national treasure to the Kingdom.

One TV management plans to expand territorial coverage and amplify signal in Cambodia’s capital, Phnom Penh which has over 2 million residents, as well as to provide high quality TV viewing over the Internet. This will make One TV even more accessible to the Kingdom’s population.

Before One TV was launched, Cambodia housed 15 local cable and analog television operators along with illegal Thai and Vietnamese DTH operators. The first Pay-TV digital platform launch has become a real breakthrough that has completely changed the format of TV viewing within the Kingdom of Cambodia several years ahead from the planned transition from analog to digital broadcasting by the government.

GS Group international investment and industry holding company acted as promoter, general investor and technical integrator of the digital terrestrial television broadcasting project One TV. The local partner, Royal Group of Companies provided the technical platform for the project.
