GS Group holding launched an international Math competition for students from non-capital cities in September this year. A total of 4,500 people from nine countries took part in it: students from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Moldova, Sweden and Estonia. According to the results of the second round 45 students from 18 regions of Russia, as well as from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Sweden made it to the final stage.

GS Group became the first company to announce a competition in non-standard format: only students not living in the capitals of their countries were allowed to participate. According to the holding managing board, talented students from the Russian regions and non-capital cities abroad who have fewer opportunities for self-realization than their metropolitan peers, need support and stimulus to further develop their abilities. Modern Russian economy is in need for improving productivity, which is possible on condition that the number of jobs in the hi-tech field is increased. Enterprises in the country are installing state-of-the-art equipment which evokes increasing demand for highly qualified engineering staff. Initiatives such as the International Math Competition by GS Group holding are contributing to building bridges between current and future students of technical universities and high-tech businesses. This way companies get an opportunity in the future to replenish their staff with highly qualified engineers, and in their turn students have a chance to do an internship at the best factories of the country, and on graduating from universities to get a job in the field of Russian high technology
