GS Group holding has announced a competition for start-up projects titled GS StartupTV. The event is timed to the 16th International Telecommunications Exhibition CSTB’2014, which will be held in Moscow in late January. The competition provides a chance for start-up authors and teams to present their projects to leading industry experts, gain informational support and investment.
GS Venture fund as part of the international multisectoral GS Group holding launches a competition among start-up projects in TV industry. Those who know what is what in modern TV and are able to offer fresh ideas for its development are invited to take part. Upon having thoroughly studied the projects submitted for the contest the holding’s expert board will consider the possibility of financial and other kinds of support for the project at various stages. Also, all winners will receive special prizes. Taking part in the competition will provide a chance for startups authors to present their projects to industry experts and possibly obtain funds for the project commercialization.
Precedence will be given to projects that are related to technologies for hardware and software solutions. First include new kinds of digital set-top boxes, separate modules and other solutions. The second group of preferable topics features software for receiving and processing the TV signal, viewer services, user interfaces, etc. The contest jury is also interested in new technologies and innovative products whose work is based on the transmission of information through broadcast channels as well as a variety of services (business technologies), which will be demanded by viewers.
During the CSTB’2014 exhibition GS Group will also conduct a roundtable “Support of innovative projects in the field of TV”, which will take place on January 28. Participants will discuss the current relationship between traditional and Internet TV, ways of supporting innovation, ways of searching for industry know-how and start-ups and investing in them. Andrey Bezrukov, Director for Strategic Marketing, GS Group, and Sergey Filimonov, Director, GS Venture, will be speakers at the roundtable. Representatives of several Moscow specialized universities and experts in the field of start-up projects (Higher School of Economics and the Center for Commercialization of Innovations) will also attend the event.
