GS Group presented One TV, the first digital TV in Cambodia at Russia-ASEAN business forum, on June, 22. One of the event’s key topics was how to raise investments into Russia from South-East Asia.  However, One TV is a rare example of quite an opposite trend: the holding originating from Russia invests into Asian countries and exports its proprietary high technology to the region.

The main issue discussed at the event held within St. Petersburg International Economic Forum was the increase of trade and economic cooperation between Russia and countries of the Asia-Pacific region membering in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Participants noted that the currently existing partnership between Russian and Asian business communities is not sufficient. Speakers at the event promoted the idea of increasing investment from ASEAN countries into Russia: the total gross product of the region is nearly 740 billion U.S. dollars, while in many countries there is a surplus balance of trade, and in this regard they face the problem of finding new markets in which they could invest. GS Group presentation at the business forum stood out among several other speeches: One TV broadcasting project covered in the report came as an example of Russian investment in technological development and economy of the region.

“It is not by chance that One TV project was presented at the Russia-ASEAN business forum. It clearly demonstrates successful cooperation between Russia and ASEAN as well as business potential of the region,” - noted Sergey Dolgopolskiy, GS Group Managing Director, Foreign Projects. “In the future we plan to work closely with Asian countries in the field of digitization of television. Cooperation with ASEAN will lay the foundation for strengthening our partnership”, - the GS Group representative added. “For its part, the holding is ready to provide stable funding, equipment and technology. GS Group does not only transfer Russian high-technology to the markets of partner countries, but also helps to increase the level of local professionals’ technical expertise”.

One TV came as the first nationwide digital TV operator launch in Cambodia. The project provided over 150 jobs for local professionals, GS Group organized trainings and workshops for them. Besides, the first microfinancing program in the market was started together with the national Acleda bank.

GS Group acts as initiator, investor, technological and business integrator in DTT, DTH, cable, MMDS and IPTV projects worldwide. The holding is open for cooperation with local investors, interested in starting hi-tech business in their country. In the near-term plans the holding is going to launch the first digital satellite platform in Pakistan, with Bangladesh and Indonesia next in turn.
