GS Group’s One TV office in Cambodia handed over to Angkor Hospital for Children, Hun Sen Krong Primary School and The People Improvement Organization TV plasmas, set-to-boxes and annual subscriptions to a One TV package.
According to Mr. Igor Klimko, CEO of One TV, CSR policy is an important part of the company’s activities. “Our first social campaign dates back to 2013 when One TV office helped victims of autumnal floods by collecting money for Cambodia Red Cross, - commented Mr. Klimko. – The present campaign is a logical step forward that allows us to enlarge our CSR horizons, this time by supporting organizations which work with and for children”.
Angkor Hospital for Children (AHC) was founded in 1999 and has provided by now up to 1 million medical treatments, education to thousands of Cambodian health workers and prevention training to thousands of families. According to Ms. Oma Ho, External Relations Officer of the Hospital, children spend in Hospital on average from 5 to 10 days. "Far from their families and homes, they need to be supported and entertained as any healthy child, - continued Ms. Oma Ho. - One TV Oudom-Moha-Aka-Serey package including movies, cartoon programs will help the children to be comfortable during their stay in AHC”.
The People Improvement Organization (PIO) provides education, vocational training and support to the poorest communities in Cambodia, with a focus on girls, orphans and street children. According to a PIO representative, the Organization has outreach centers at the city dumpsite, in the slum areas of Phnom Penh and on the outskirts of the city where the people from the slums are being relocated as the city is redeveloped. “Through education and training, we aim to equip the children and young people to access regular jobs and become self supporting, improving their quality of life and that of their families, - comments our interlocutor. – By giving access to quality Asian and Western programs, the One TV Oudom-Moha-Aka-Serey package will definitely contribute into helping us to empower local people to become the leaders of the future”.
Hun Sen Krong Primary School educating 968 pupils of different age appreciate especially in the One TV offer the cartoon network and Animal Planet programs. “We are grateful to the One TV team for the annual subscription to its best TV package that will provide our school with 80 quality channels, - said the director of the school. – Being the ones working with children, we will pay a particular attention to programs adapted for the youth”.
The Khmer minister of Information, H.E. Mr. Khieu Kanharith, was present at the handover ceremony and expressed his deepest gratitude to the One TV office for its initiative: “Having access to quality programs for children is a precious chance for today`s young generation. I am happy these programs will make life of some children in Cambodia more interesting”.
Angkor Hospital for Children (AHC) is a non-profit pediatric teaching hospital working in cooperation with the Cambodian Government to provide free, quality care to impoverished children in Siem Reap, Cambodia. AHC offers both inpatient and outpatient care, surgical services (including heart-surgery), ER, intensive care treatment and antiretroviral HIV therapy.
The People Improvement Organization (PIO) was established in 2002 and officially registered at the Ministry of the Interior the same year. PIO has a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Education and with the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, and works directly to support the governments’ education goals. PIO is committed to the United Nations Millennium Development Goals which aim to ‘End Poverty’, and all our work actively underpins the achievement of these goals.
