he Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Government delegation visited exposition of the General Satellite Corporation at the collective booth of the Presidential Commission on the Modernization and Technological Development of the Russian Economy at the St Petersburg International Economic Forum. Particular interest was aroused by demonstration of Russia's first 3D TV channel «3DV» launched by the General Satellite Corporation on Feb. 2, 2010 and broadcast by HD TV operator "Platform HD». A large plasma 3D capable TV was used to show the world's first 3D recording of a ballet, performed at the Mariinsky Theatre on April 15, 2010 and shown live in St. Petersburg, Moscow and Paris simultaneously.
The General Satellite Corporation presented a novelty at the Forum - TE-8511, a digital SD (MPEG-4) DVB-T receiver, unmatched in Russia for price and quality, the optimal solution for implementing the Federal Target Program "Development of digital broadcasting in Russia in 2009-2015". The unit supports unique hardware and software complex - control system middleware (CSMW) for operator functioning developed by the General Satellite Corporation. Digital TV interactive services, such as TVchat, TVmail, Infocas, Infobanner, made available thanks to the CSMW, are already being used by subscribers of Russia's largest satellite operator TricolorTV.
The idea of the exposition was consonant with the concept of the common booth of the Commission on Modernization: modernization, introduction of advanced technologies and active use of innovations should be the main lines of development of modern Russia.
