The GS Group holding company presented a prototype of a device that combines the functionality of a game console and digital HD receiver to mobile gaming marketing experts and called leading game developers for cooperation. The presentation was held at the Winter Nights Mobile Games Conference 2015, the mobile game development and marketing international conference that was conducted on February 9-10, 2015 in St. Petersburg, Russia.

The device was first presented to the professional community in January 2015 at the CSTB’2015 exhibition and evoked great interest amongst telecom experts. The console enables top video games to be displayed on the TV as well as watching various favorite channels in HD. The product fully conforms to popular concept of advanced TV viewing aimed at deep involvement from viewers into the video content by means of additional services, the “second screen” and other options.

The new console is close in the technical characteristics to the flagship models of modern mobile device manufacturers, which support today’s games. The console has a high performance CPU and powerful graphics accelerator. The gaming platform for the new device is currently being developed by GS Group in cooperation with the largest video game developer in Eastern Europe — Sperasoft. The partner’s specialists will provide support for developers for correct and rapid adaptation and publication of their gaming customers to the gaming platform of the console. Clients of Sperasoft include: Mail.Ru Group, Wargaming, BioWare Corp, Disney Interactive Studios, Inc., Playdom and others.

“Our project is unique for the Russian market, which was evidenced by the high interest from the game studios in the course of the event. We’ve spent both conference days in active discussion about features of the new console by GS Group and prospects for cooperation with game developers. We’ve also arranged a few meetings to further clarify the terms of cooperation. Ideas of our cross-media projects “TV + Game” were of particular interest to this year’s participants. In addition, we also presented the opportunities of the GS Venture corporate venture fund which seeks projects in the field of computer games for investment, and also met a lot of interested young studios,” comments Tatiana Mikhalevskaya, the project manager.

One of the GS Group key activities is developing technologies for all kinds of digital TV. The company seeks to offer advanced technology to a wide range of users by increasing the operators’ ARPU through the introduction of additional products and services. As of today, GS Group holds one of the leading industry positions in Russia of home appliances and electronics, and is the flagship to related high-tech areas. The main strategic goal of the holding company is to roll out a global technological ecosystem where various international projects will be implemented, including other companies interested to adapt their pilot projects to mass audiences.
