The First Cardboard Factory, a manufacture within the innovation cluster Technopolis GS, has collected over 300 kg of plastic waste. The environmental campaign started by the plant in the town of Gusev was finished by December, 2.
This year in Russia was declared the Year of environmental protection. With the amount of plastic waste increasing dramatically year after year, this kind of garbage poses a serious threat to the world ecology and to that of our country specifically. LLC First cardboard Factory, being concerned about environmental protection, launched a campaign to collect plastic. Secondary schools No. 3 and No. 5 of Gusev as well as its Polytechnic College and Agriculture College actively supported the initiative.
The event was announced in advance, so that students had enough time to collect empty plastic bottles at home and other plastic waste. They also told their friends and relatives about the campaign and encouraged them to take an active part. The First cardboard Factory organized transporting the collected 300 kg of waste for recycling.
The problem of plastic waste in the world is now vital, said Renata Maklakova, PR manager, Technopolis GS. It practically does not decompose and during combustion produces toxic substances. But if recycled, it can be used for making various things, such as carpet fibers, synthetic fibers, fiberfill for sports clothing and sleeping bags, various trays, pallets and a lot of other products.
The First Cardboard Factory awarded the participants of the campaign with sets of sports equipment. Recycled plastic will be used in the manufacture of pallets and other products necessary for the factory. Environmental initiatives of this kind have already become a tradition for the plant and for the residents of Gusev. In October, the factory took part in an International Day without Paper and collected six tons of paper waste.
