On June 6 the New Stage of Mariinsky Theater performs its first 3D cinema broadcast: the legendary ballet “Swan Lake” by P.I. Tchaikovsky will be shown in 3D format in cinemas of many countries in the framework of the “White Night Stars” festival held in St. Petersburg. This is the second joint experience of three-dimensional image transmission with one of the world’s greatest ballet houses. The first time a performance was transmitted to Moscow, Paris and London in 2010 with technological partnership of GS Group holding.
The world’s first live broadcast of ballet in 3D format took place on April 15, 2010. It was organized and put in 3D format by GS Group holding (called General Satellite Corporation at that time) and Mariinsky Theater. That was “Giselle” ballet by A. Adam. Spectators in Russia and Europe could enjoy the first-ever live three-dimensional ballet transmission.
Within the three years having elapsed, the Mariinsky Theater opened its second stage from where the second in its history 3D ballet broadcast will be performed.
Katerina Gamadzhan, Director for Strategic Marketing of GS Group holding, has emphasized the importance of this first 3D broadcast: “The Russian culture is unique and inimitable in all genres, while ballet is one of the major arts with which Russia is associated all over the world. Many art connoisseurs arrive to country each year to visit its glorious theaters and see performances firsthand”.
According to K. Gamadzhan, in the XXI century, by possessing contemporary communication technologies, we need to provide people with the possibility to join the art regardless of where they are located.
“For GS Group, as a hi-tech company with Russian history, it is very important to promote this by using our own breakthrough solutions”, the holding’s Director for Strategic Marketing has underlined, “That’s why we give the highest importance to the fact of being the organizers of the first 3D broadcast of Russian ballet. Besides that, in our broadcasting projects in various countries – for instance, in Cambodia – we also try to include Russian TV channels into the multiplexes, to let the people all over the world learn about our genuine culture and art and see it with their eyes”.
