Who can get a job at one of the high-tech facilities within the international multisectoral holding GS Group?  At which of them can young specialists develop their talent and become professionals? How to get the investment for one’s own project from the holding’s GS Venture fund? Young people who attended the Geek Picnic during the weekend got answers to these questions from the company staff. This large-scale open-air on cutting edge technology, science and art has been held for the third time in Saint Petersburg.

GS Group holding develops innovations in various production fields: microelectronics and nanotechnology, consumer electronics and set-top boxes, contractual production, house-building, wood processing and some others. Due to the fact that the company’s activities are based on high technology, it is interested in young and active specialists who are ready to develop in the area of science and innovations. In their turn, they are also attracted by the prospects and possibilities GS Group offers: the average age of the holding staff is around 30 years.

The holding’s representatives told the Geek Picnic participants about the options that GS Group provides for its staff. Those working at Technopolis GS, a unique private innovations cluster developed by the holding have huge career prospects in production, R&D, and also in some jobs dealing with culture, art and creative activities. A number of specialists go for training to GS Group partner companies in different countries of the world. As many as 3000 people are supposed to be working in Technopolis GS by 2015, 30 per cent of them at engineer, R&D and managing positions.

Geek Picnic guests also wanted to know what support GS Venture fund can offer to young entrepreneurs. The corporate venture fund created recently within the holding company is ready to help promising startups.

“The demands that business and end users put forward concerning solutions in TV and telecom areas are growing at a fast pace today”, – said Sergey Filimonov, head of GS Venture. “For GS Group as a manufacturer this means the need for constant innovations in a number of fields: electronics, software, graphic interface etc. That is why we launched GS Venture fund that is going to track the latest trends and think ahead”. Mr. Filimonov also noted that the fund will contribute to the holding’s further development as a provider of various state-of-the-art products. The basis for supporting promising startups developers and teams will be provided by the wide range of GS Group businesses as well as by the capacities of Technopolis GS innovations cluster located in Kaliningrad region. GS Group is the initiator and investor of Technopolis GS project.
