GS Labs Research and Development Centre has registered its invention “Twin tuner satellite broadcast system and the method for selecting its functioning mode” with the Russian Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent).

The development relates to twin tuner receiving equipment for a digital satellite broadcasting system. GS Labs specialists made several hardware and software enhancements that will help to improve the consumer properties of this type of equipment.

Other twin tuner satellite receivers available on the market generally have several deficiencies associated with their connection: limited functionality, complex configuration, the need to use additional equipment to stream a satellite broadcast to a second subscriber device. GS Lab’s invention makes it possible to make maximum use of the potential of a twin tuner receiver connected to just one antenna cable and obtain additional advantages: the option to connect a receiver-client, stream independently on a second television/device, background recording of content as part of PVR functionality, background support for system processes, etc.

The tuners’ special configuration and their connection method ensures operation without additional external devices and expenses for the user. In addition, hardware amplification improves the signal quality. This solution automatically detects the number of connected cables, which greatly simplifies the configuration of the set-top box and its further operation.
